AMEDF Alliance
Promoting financial literacy and education
AMEDF promotes activities that improve college readiness and provides resources to help families better prepare for college.
Established in 1997, AMEDF is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that is not affiliated with any institution of higher education or government agency. It conducts research and provides direct support and services to students and families in the areas of career exploration, academic planning, college selection, financial aid, college and financial literacy.
AMEDF collaborates with businesses, institutions of higher learning, membership institutions and other organizations to create additional avenues for improvements in education. AMEDF is a member of the College Board and the National College Access Network (NCAN).
AMEDF formed the Financial Literacy Alliance in 2006 in response to FLEC's initial call for participation by community organizations in improving financial literacy. The AMEDF Alliance couples education programs and tools developed by FLEC and AMEDF with one on one guidance provided by professional counselors.
Working with community partners and sponsors, AMEDF Alliance education programs are free to the public and held in easily accessible venues like libraries and schools. Subsidized financial counseling services are available to individuals and families at discounts of 70% or more based on household income.
